October was a mess in many ways... in terms of meeting my goals, but generally, it was mostly good things that got me off track. I was able to rally the last week and my health numbers continue to trend in the right direction.

September was busy. Had the film screenings, got another credit on my IMDB page. :) My health goals for the last 6 months of 2025 are to average less than 2500 calories a day, sleep 7.5 hours, and beat 11,000 steps a day. Currently, I am burning 3,295 cals a day. I have started another run at losing weight. I am down 5 pounds in the last two weeks to 225... The changes I am making are to do a 36 hour fast once a week and a fast mimicking diet one day a week staying under 1000 calories. In Aug. In Sept. I slept an average of 7h 29m up from from 7h 06m in Aug. and well above my yearly average, and I averaged 12,287 steps per day in Sept. up from 12,193 in Aug. Some improvement, I am happy with my progress so far...
August was a busy month, but I was still able to make progress on bandcam.io. It's close to be able to invite some bands into a closed beta. I should be talking to them already, but I wanted something to show with the conversation. My health goals for the last 6 months of 2025 are to average less than 2500 calories a day, sleep 7.5 hours, and beat 11,000 steps a day. OK... My health goals for the last 6 months of 2025 are to average less than 2500 calories a day, sleep 7.5 hours, and beat 11,000 steps a day. Currently, I am burning 3,300 cals a day, up from 3,161 in Jan., I have lost 10 pounds during July based on the calorie restriction... In July I slept an average of 7h 19m up from 6h 11m in Jan., and I averaged 11,907 steps per day in July up from 10,548. I am happy with my progress so far... Well, the last 10 days have been a struggle... mostly around house stuff which included the AC going out, an attic pipe leak which caused significant water damage, an outlet burning out taking out power to half of the second floor, and a bunch of storage unit issues... all adding to about 11k in unexpected expenses. :(
I decided to split the yearly goals into 2 chunks that felt more meaningful. 6 months is enough time to accomplish decent sized goals, but not so long that you can put this off till the end of the year. My birthday is July 5th which is a little past the 6month mark, but a birthday is a meaningful moment in a life. How did I do with birthday goals? It's a mixed bag. I gave myself a score of 50 out of 100. In the life category, on the positive side, I am averaging 10,900 steps a day for the year so far and I have increased my time asleep on average by almost 30 mins... Not close to the goal, but improvement. On weight loss, I put on weight and it wasn't muscle... and I did not meaningfully increase my income, although I did review my finances and cancelled some subscriptions which meant keeping more of our earnings. I did not take a Python class like I wanted to, but I did spend a lot more time writing/working with Python... so I gave myself a partial. We didn't leave the state, but we were able to get away and have a couple adventures. :) I logged 2 projects under the "Create" category, but frankly I made over a dozen... This has been where my focus has been this year... and I am kicking ass! :) We went to a few new restaurants, but half as many as I wanted to... So, I am making some adjustments for the second half of the year.
I am shifting my focus away from tracking weight and towards tracking calories.... I have never been a fan, but weight tracking is downstream from the problem of me eating too many calories. I have been building a bunch of side projects but few had any meaningful revenue plan. This is going to change...while I still leave myself time for fun side projects. I just finished a great marketing book.... I am going to reread it and 3 others to into the mindset of promoting products. Working on my 3rd game prototype... This one is on a new American Civil war. Seems timely... the starting point utilized political voting data from the 2024 election to define sides.
The two previous are on running a sculpture studio and one on scratch off lottery tickets. :) I always knew that Scramble Up! was not a good fit for Steam, but I figured it would be easy(ish) to make and I would learn a lot... Which is mostly true, and I have, but the fun of the gameplay loop wears off quickly and I have not come up with a way to make it fun.
It always felt like a better word-a-day puzzle like wordle, and I have built a version of that and posted it to: www.scrambleupgame.com I'll keep posting new words there and to the 'paper' version on instagram, but the expanded Steam version need to cook a little more. |
My 2025 BlogI'm on a mission to ship lots of experiments this year... This is one of them. :) Archives
